Customs Manager - Job Opening

We are looking for a Customs Manager.
- Reports to: Operations Manager
- Supervises: Customs Operations
- Job Function/Scope: Plan, organise, direct, control and evaluate the activities of the Customs and Agency department by managing and executing tasks. Regular in country travel required.
- Job Location: 364 Omai Street, Prashad Nagar, Georgetown, Guyana
- Salary: Monthly Retainer + Quarterly Dividends
- Roles & Responsibilities: Key focal point to Customs Brokerage business expansion and efficiency improvement. Managing Customs department daily activities in line with Customs division guidelines, regulations, legislation and company policy in all areas of business Ensure that the Port Agency and Customs Brokerage operations are carried out according to the legal provisions and ethical codes that govern the activities of the Port Agents and Ship Brokers. Monitor regulatory and legislative changes to ensure that the company is complying with all government agencies and local laws/legislations. Building and maintaining a strong working relationship between the shipping agency and clients, affiliates and other commercial/govern bodies. Work closely with all internal department leads to seek mutually benefitting process improvements to drive productivity and implement best practices in relation to Customs and Agency departments. Work closely with the finance and SSC teams to ensure bill out to clients are done in a timely manner for all C&A activity. Providing guidance on customs laws, regulations to internal, external customers and staff including but not limited to duty and tax advice. Develop and implement all Customs processes and procedures are up to date for all CARICOM region and uploaded to Delmur's website. Work closely with procurement and proposals in building Customs and Agency rate structure for new tenders, internal control for profit margin at account level and producing timely backups for billing. Ensure all relevant Customs licenses and bonds are renewed in a timely manner to avoid any penalties. Maintain visibility of import/export activities and workflow systems for proper use and filing. Research and resolve customer complaints on customs and agency related issues. Attend meetings Provide KPI’s to senior management as requested on a timely manner to give an overall picture of Agency & Customs business detailing leading and lagging indicators including high-level operations.

- Qualifications: Managerial experience in Customs, Ship agency and Freight forwarding environments (Minimum 3 years) Management degree or equivalent work experience in Supply Chain Logistics Qualification and knowledge in Marketing, Sales and Accounting 7+ years of experience in the Marine Agency and Customs sector Accredited Customs broker’s license Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Drive.
